The Color Of Change

“It’s been too long, plus it doesn’t look great right now…”

Jan taps the painting contractor’s postcard against his chin. He found it in his mailbox this morning and it made him realize something: they’ve had the same color house for over 20 years! It also has this chalky look to it too.

He wonders how much it’ll cost to paint the aluminum siding on his house.

Jan goes to talk to his wife about it. “Hon, I think it’s time to paint our house. It looks chalky and it might be nice to have a different color too.” Kelly looks over at him. “You know, you have a good point. Maybe it is time for something new. We need someone who knows how to paint aluminum siding.”

They talk it over for a while and decide to call the painting contractor on the postcard.

Talking To Tribble Painting

“Hi, this is Ashley with Tribble Painting. How may I help you today?”

Jan and Kelly explain that they want someone to paint their aluminum siding. Both sides ask and answer questions about the project. After talking, Jan and Kelly agree to schedule an estimate for later in the week so they can find out how much it’ll cost.

“Thank you for calling! Let me know if you need anything else, I’m just a phone call away.” Ashley says cheerily. “Of course and thank you Ashley,” Jan replies before ending the call.

Now all they need to do is wait for the estimator to arrive.

The Estimate Process

The estimator arrives right on time. He introduces himself as Todd Tribble.

“Hey hey! Welcome to our home, Todd!” Jan says welcomingly. “I know you probably get this a lot, but are you the owner? The last name…”

“You got me,” Todd says with a laugh. “I like to stay active in multiple parts of the business and giving estimates is one of them. I’m also a people-person so I enjoy doing this.”

Todd and the couple walk around the house, going over the plan, asking questions (like what exterior colors are popular), and getting a feel for each other. Jan can tell Todd knows how to paint aluminum siding.

At the end of the estimate, Todd tells them what Tribble Painting would ask for the amount of work.

“Wow, I wasn’t expecting that kind of number,” Jan utters in surprise. Kelly agrees, so they thank Todd and tell him they need to think it over. “Of course, take your time and have a pleasant day,” he responds.

1 week later…

“Hi, this is Ashley with Tribble Painting. How may I help you today?”

“Hi Ashley, it’s Jan. We’ve decided to move forward and have Tribble Painting paint our aluminum siding.”

Jeanette with Tribble Painting

Ashley puts them through to Jeanette, who talks with them about collecting the deposit and getting them on the schedule.

Jan hangs up the phone, turning to Kelly in excitement, “It’s finally happening! Soon, our house is going to be beautiful again and a new color.”

“Thank you for the pre-job walkthrough! I feel a lot more comfortable,” Kelly says happily. Now everyone is on the same page about what’s going to happen.

“Here’s my cellphone number in case you need anything,” says the project manager. “If there’s nothing else then me and the boys will be getting to work.” Jan thanks him and he turns around, calling out orders to his team.

The painting aluminum siding project begins.

Red house after painting

Disaster Strikes!

“Oh no! The rain is ruining our new paint job!”

The rainstorm is ruining the Tribble Painting team’s beautiful work. It’s runny and has this uneven look to it.

Rain ruining the new paint job for the aluminum siding

Jan calls Tribble Painting about the problem. They, in turn, contact the paint manufacturer to see why this had happened after they used the paint.

The end result: Tribble Painting decides to repaint Jan’s house for free.

“Wait, are you sure?!” Jan says in disbelief. What kind of painting contractor would actually offer to redo their work for free when it wasn’t their fault?!

“Of course I’m sure,” says Todd. “But, it may be best to wait until spring so nothing like that happens again.” Jan and Kelly agree to wait. While they are waiting they have Tribble Painting come in and paint areas of their home interior.

Then, when spring has sprung, Tribble Painting springs into action to repaint Jan’s aluminum siding.
